DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
The psychomotor therapist is a highly qualified health professional who helps patients, suffering from psychological disorders, attain an overall state of ease and achieve healthy changes in feelings, thinking and behavior.
Psychomotor therapy complements psychotherapy and usually constitutes an integral part of the treatment plan for a variety of psychiatric conditions. Psychomotor therapy benefits patients with depression, schizophrenia, personality disorders, eating disorders and cognitive behavioral disorders. Children with attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome constitute a typical beneficiary of psychomotor therapy. |
Further, the psychomotor therapist typical manages children with motor coordination problems (balance & clumsiness), fine movement impairment (handwriting & using scissors), muscular tone problems (tension) and aggressive behavior.

You will be trained on how to assess patients, make diagnosis and devise effective treatment plans. You will master a spectrum of therapeutic interventions in the domains of global and fine movements, planning and execution of gestures, perception, tonus, orientation in space and time and handwriting. Since psychomotor therapists are frequently engaged with cases in kindergartens and schools, you will be trained on effective communication with young children. You will also learn how to effectively cooperate with other professionals who usually overlap with you or complement your work such as psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
The job outlook after graduation is very bright. The number of practicing psychomotor therapists is very small in Morocco and worldwide. However, the demand for psychomotor therapy is growing exponentially. A significant proportion of young children in nurseries and schools will need your expertise. Further, psychiatrists will frequently refer cases with psychological problems to you for psychomotor therapy. |

INTERNATIONAL EQUIVALENCE
Successful completion of this program requires 120 credit hours or 180 ECTS credits over a minimal period of three years. Students are awarded credit for classes on the basis of “seat time” in class and out-of-class student work.

The majority of psychomotor therapists run their own private cabinets. They usually work as part of a multidisciplinary team, alongside other health professionals such as doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. They may also liaise with professionals in education and social services.
They can provide services or work directly in medical facilities and schools. In medical facilities, psychomotor therapists work with doctors, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare workers. In schools, they work with teachers, other school personnel, and parents to develop and carry out individual or group programs, provide counseling, and support classroom activities.

How to become a psychomotor therapist?
To become a psychomotor therapist you will have to join and successfully complete the Bachelor of Science in psychomotricity. To join the program you need to have a high school leaving certificate or equivalent diploma.
Once enrolled, you will be required to work hard to successfully complete 27 modules over three years with a total study load of 5400 hours. Courses are organized in semesters, each academic year has two semesters and each semester lasts for 20 weeks.
The study program includes a total of 1665 hours of clinical placement, which can be spent in our partner institutions in Morocco or Europe.
Once enrolled, you will be required to work hard to successfully complete 27 modules over three years with a total study load of 5400 hours. Courses are organized in semesters, each academic year has two semesters and each semester lasts for 20 weeks.
